Covidien SIG30AMT Tri-Staple 2.0 30mm Medium/Thick Intelligent Reload For Use With Signia Stapling System
• Model: SIG30AMT
The SIG30AMT reload is designed to provide surgeons with enhanced performance when stapling through medium to thick tissue. Its three‑tiered staple height (3.0 mm, 3.5 mm, 4.0 mm from the inner to outer rows) helps ensure that tissue compression is appropriately graduated: less compression near the inner rows (to reduce trauma) and more compression where needed at the outer rows to ensure integrity of the staple line. This is especially beneficial in tissues with variable thickness, such as intestines, lung tissue, or thick fascia. Having the correct staple height helps reduce the risk of leakage or poor staple formation.
Cartridge length of 30 mm gives surgeons a moderate staple line length. It strikes a balance between being long enough for adequate closure in many cases and small enough for precise placement and maneuverability. The purple color coding (Medium/Thick) makes it easier in the OR to visually identify the tissue‑thickness range for which the reload is intended, helping avoid misuse (e.g. using too thick a staple which can crush tissue, or too thin which might fail to close properly). The “Intelligent Reload” designation indicates compatibility with “smart” stapling systems (Signia) that may adjust firing speed, force, or other parameters to optimize staple formation across different tissue types.
As a single‑use, sterile reload, the SIG30AMT is meant to safely integrate into minimally invasive and open surgical workflows. Using a reload like this reduces OR waste compared to older models, and the intelligent features help reduce risk of malformed staples, which can lead to complications or need for revision. Surgeons value reliability in staple formation, consistency across firing, and the ability to handle thicker tissues without compromising closure quality. However, correct choice (tissue thickness, anatomy, stapler handle compatibility) and surgical technique remain important to ensure good outcomes.
This medical supply or implant item is not in its original equipment manufacturer (OEM) packaging but remains sterile and intact within its inner sterilization package. Despite the absence of the outer box, the item is unused and maintains sterility, ensuring it is suitable for medical use.
