Covidien EGIA60AMT Endo GIA Articulating Reload with Tri-Staple Technology 60mm Medium/ Thick

• Model: EGIA60AMT
• 60mm Medium/Thick
• Individual Dimensions: 1" x 11" x 4"

The EGIA60AMT is designed to provide surgeons with a reliable and versatile reload for stapling in minimally invasive and open surgical settings, especially where moderate to thick tissue must be transected or sealed. By offering three different staple heights (3.0, 3.5, 4.0 mm) across its inner‑to‑outer rows, it enables better accommodation of variable tissue thicknesses, improving hemostasis (bleeding control) and helping reduce the risk of tissue damage or inadequate staple formation. The Tri‑Staple™ technology used in this reload helps by easing the selection process of staple size and by distributing compression more evenly.

Being articulating, the reload allows the stapling head to angle or pivot as needed, which is especially useful in tight or anatomically challenging areas (e.g. deep pelvis, around curved organs, or where straight access is limited). The 60 mm cartridge gives a relatively long line of staples—helpful for achieving fewer reloads in longer transections—while still maintaining a standard tip style that may simplify orientation and handling in many operative fields. The purple color coding clearly signals its medium/thick tissue indication, which can help OR teams avoid mismatches that could lead to staple misfire, leakage, or other complications.

One consideration is that while the articulating design improves reach and angle, it may add slight bulk or complexity compared to non‑articulating reloads; handling and positioning might require more care or space for maneuvering the stapler. Also, proper selection of staple height (matching tissue thickness precisely) remains essential to avoid over‑compression or under‑compression. Finally, cost per reload tends to be higher for articulating and multi‑height technology cartridges, so there is a trade‑off in terms of budget and inventory planning. Surgeons and surgical teams need to balance these factors—institutional cost, surgical profile, patient anatomy—with the benefits of flexibility, tissue adaptation, and improved safety.
