The Amsino 7‑inch Microbore IV Extension Set is designed to provide a low‑volume, compact connection between a primary IV line and ancillary devices (e.g. IV pumps, syringes, or catheters) while minimizing the extra fluid “dead space” added to the system. The microbore tubing ensures that the priming volume (i.e. the fluid needed to fill it before flow) remains minimal, which is advantageous especially in pediatric or low‑flow infusions. Its relatively short 7″ length strikes a balance between flexibility and minimal additional circuit length.

One of its attractive safety and usability features is the PosiSite needleless injection Y‑site, which permits medication or flush access without the use of needles, helping reduce needlestick risk and maintaining a closed system. The incorporated slide clamp offers manual control over flow — allowing the user to temporarily halt fluid movement without disconnecting the line. At its ends, the female Luer (with protective cap) and rotating male Luer lock connectors provide secure, leak-resistant connections; the rotating male Luer lock is particularly useful because it can be twisted without needing to rotate the entire tubing, reducing torque on the line.

Material-wise, the device is DEHP-free, latex-free, and nonpyrogenic, which is important for compatibility and patient safety, particularly in sensitive populations (e.g. neonates, patients with latex allergies). As a sterile, single-use component packaged in a poly pouch, it is designed for one-time use in clinical settings, reducing cross-contamination risks. In practice, this extension set is well-suited for any IV therapy that benefits from reduced internal volume (to reduce over‑dilution), easy access points for injection or sampling, and secure, low-profile connections.
