The Avanos 8270‑22‑4.5‑45 MIC‑KEY GJ tube is a low-profile, dual‑port gastric‑jejunal device designed for patients who require both gastric decompression and distal feeding into the jejunum. Because it is a skin-level (low-profile) device with a stoma length of 4.5 cm, the external profile is minimized, reducing the risk of snagging and improving patient comfort and cosmetic acceptability. The 22 Fr diameter provides a relatively large internal lumen for nutrient flow while balancing size and tolerability.

Internally, the device features a silicone balloon that inflates to retain the tube in position within the stomach. The external bolster houses two separately labeled ports (“JEJUNAL” and “GASTRIC”), each with a one-way valve that is opened by attaching the corresponding ENFit extension set. The JEJUNAL port routes feeding directly into the small intestine, bypassing the stomach, which is beneficial in patients with delayed gastric emptying, high aspiration risk, or gastric dysfunction. The GASTRIC port allows for drainage or decompression of stomach contents via gravity or low intermittent suction, helping reduce reflux or pressure buildup.

From a procedural and usability standpoint, this kit includes extension sets with ENFit connectors, syringes, and accessories needed for safe feeding and tube management. The weighted distal jejunal segment and radiopaque stripe assist clinicians in confirming placement under imaging. The tapering of the tip and the use of medical-grade silicone facilitate smoother insertion and reduce mucosal trauma. In clinical practice, this GJ tube is selected for patients needing both distal feeding and gastric decompression in a discreet, low-profile format.
