The Ultraverse 014 PTA Balloon Dilation Catheter U4150322 is a peripheral angioplasty catheter designed specifically for small-vessel intervention and dilation of peripheral arterial stenoses. Its 3.0 mm diameter and extended 220 mm working balloon length allow it to treat more extensive lesions in a single pass or with fewer repositionings. The catheter’s 150 cm shaft permits access to distal vascular beds, balancing reach with manageable handling in peripheral interventions.

One of the key design elements is the GeoAlign™ marking system on the catheter shaft, which gives the operator external reference markings (in 1 cm increments) for guidance of catheter depth and alignment without relying exclusively on fluoroscopy. In addition, for balloons of length 100 mm or more (as in this model), there are dual radiopaque markers on the distal portion of the balloon to distinguish its proximal and distal ends, enhancing precise positioning under imaging.

Functionally, the catheter is built with a low-profile distal tip and hydrophilic coating to assist in crossing tight lesions and navigating tortuous anatomy. The atraumatic tip helps reduce vessel injury during advancement. Once in position, the balloon may be inflated to dilate the stenosis, relying on the compliant / semi-compliant balloon behavior to adapt to the vessel shape while achieving lumen expansion. Importantly, the device is cleared specifically for use in renal, femoral, popliteal, and tibial/peroneal arteries, but not in coronary circulation, making it suitable for lower limb and visceral peripheral angioplasty rather than cardiac coronary intervention.
