The Biolife DM625 STATSEAL Medium Disc is a smartly engineered topical hemostatic device tailored for efficient and reliable control of bleeding in vascular access sites such as those used for central venous or PICC lines. Its medium size—compatible with 6–9 Fr. catheters—ensures a snug fit over the procedural site. When pressed onto the site, its blend of hydrophilic polymer and potassium ferrate swiftly establishes an occlusive, low‑pH seal that stops oozing immediately. This action is independent of the patient's clotting ability, making it especially valuable in managing patients with coagulopathies or those receiving anticoagulation therapy.

What sets the STATSEAL Medium Disc apart is its ability to stabilize the procedural site through to the next scheduled dressing change, reducing the likelihood of dressing disruption and associated infection risks. Studies have shown the approach can drastically reduce dressing changes and has been associated with up to a 92% decrease in catheter-related bloodstream infections when incorporated into a comprehensive CLABSI reduction strategy.

From a workflow and safety perspective, the STATSEAL Disc is designed for practicality and patient safety. It’s sterile, disposable, and latex-free—minimizing allergic reaction risks and streamlining usage in busy clinical settings. The compressed disc format allows for clean, simple application over a wide range of catheter sizes. It provides caregivers with a reliable, easy-to-use solution to maintain hemostasis while enhancing site security and patient comfort.
