The Gyrus ACMI 70142011 Micron II All Titanium Centered TORP 4.50 mm is a precision middle-ear prosthesis designed to restore continuity of the ossicular chain when the natural ossicles (e.g. incus, malleus) are damaged or missing. As a total ossicular replacement prosthesis (TORP), it bridges from the tympanic side (or malleus remnant) down to the stapes footplate, thereby transferring acoustic energy for hearing. Because it is made of titanium, the device offers favorable mechanical strength, biocompatibility, and low weight, making it well-suited for long-term implantation in the delicate middle ear environment.

One of the distinguishing design features of this TORP model is its centered orientation and open / tiltable head design, which allow the surgeon better visualization of the stapes footplate niche during positioning and reduce the risk of misalignment. The 4.50 mm length is one of several pre-sized options in the Micron series, enabling a “fit-to-size” approach without the need for intraoperative trimming (in many cases). This monolithic titanium design helps maintain structural integrity and predictability, avoiding junctional weak points that may exist in modular constructs.

In clinical usage, the surgeon selects an appropriately sized TORP (e.g. 4.50 mm) based on intraoperative gap measurements (sometimes using trial instruments). Once chosen, the 70142011 is seated onto the stapes footplate (or shoe) and aligned with the residual ossicular elements or tympanic membrane / malleus remnant. Over time, the implant is expected to remain stable, transmit sound effectively, and resist extrusion or mechanical fatigue. Because it is MRI-conditional, care is taken in postoperative imaging planning. In sum, the Gyrus ACMI 70142011 offers a robust, surgeon-friendly, pre-sized option in middle ear reconstructive surgery.
