The Terumo 1SR*FF2419 SurFlash IV catheter is a fine-gauge, peripheral intravascular access device intended for delicate venous access tasks. Its 24‑gauge, ¾‑inch structure is suitable for small or fragile veins, such as those in pediatrics, geriatrics, or challenging venipuncture situations. Because it’s constructed of polyurethane, the catheter is relatively rigid at room temperature (for ease of handling and insertion) but softens with body warmth, improving comfort and reducing irritation in situ.

One of the distinctive features of the SurFlash line is its integrated flashback visualization mechanism. The specially grooved needle allows blood to enter a flash chamber between the catheter and needle during placement, giving clinicians immediate visual confirmation that the vessel has been cannulated before advancing the catheter.
