1. Product Design & Construction

The Imager II Torque Catheter is a single-lumen, torque-transmitting catheter featuring a stainless-steel braided core embedded in a biocompatible polymer shaft. The 5 French diameter and 65 cm working length are tailored for navigating the urinary tract. It terminates in a Bern tip, a gently curved end designed to facilitate atraumatic passage through ureteral orifices and anatomical turns, and connects proximally via a standard Luer-lock hub. Its inherent radiopacity ensures clear visibility under fluoroscopic guidance.

2. Functional Performance

The braided design delivers excellent torque control and resistance to kinking—critical for percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL), ureteroscopy, and difficult retrograde access procedures. As part of the Imager II line, it’s optimized for retrograde or antegrade placement and supports both guidewire passage and contrast/media injection via its open lumen.

3. Clinical Applications & Practical Benefits

Intended for urinary tract access, irrigation, and contrast delivery, this catheter simplifies procedures involving narrow or tortuous anatomy. It is latex-free and sterilized using ethylene oxide. Supplied in cartons of five, it supports efficient inventory management and procedural readiness. Note that certain lots of Imager II catheters have previously been subject to a packaging-related recall, so verifying lot numbers is advisable.
