Cheetah Medical CMALIFT Portable Passive Leg Raise (PLR) Lift 45° Opening Angle 50 x 60 x 80cm

• Model: CMALIFT
• Opens at a 45° Angle
• Dimensions: 50cm x 60cm x 80cm

The Cheetah CMALIFT Portable PLR Lift is a device engineered to perform a controlled passive leg raise (PLR) in patients, commonly used in ICU or perioperative settings to evaluate fluid responsiveness. By raising a patient’s legs at a moderate angle (around 45°) using the lift, clinicians can temporarily shift venous blood centrally, simulating a fluid bolus. Because the lift is portable and can be quickly deployed, it enables PLR tests without needing to reposition the patient’s entire bed or interrupt monitoring.

Sized at about 50 × 60 × 80 cm, the CMALIFT offers sufficient length and width to accommodate the lower extremities of a patient, while its opening angle ensures a meaningful elevation. Despite its footprint, the device is relatively lightweight (~4.8 lb), enhancing its portability and making it feasible to store or deploy rapidly at the bedside. Its structural design must balance rigidity (to safely support a patient’s legs) with lightweight materials for ease of handling.

In operation, the lift must be placed beneath or adjacent to the patient’s leg region, adjusted without disturbing lines or monitors, and then deployed to raise the legs to the target angle. During this maneuver, continuous hemodynamic monitoring (e.g. via stroke volume / cardiac output monitors) is used to assess whether their cardiovascular system responds positively to the transient central volume shift. Because the lift enables this maneuver without needing to tilt or reposition the whole bed, it supports more frequent, consistent, and less disruptive assessments. In designing or selecting such a lift, one must consider safety (e.g. avoiding abrupt movement, ensuring stability), ease of cleaning, durability, and compatibility with other bedside equipment.

These surgical instruments have been previously used and show visible signs of wear consistent with their prior usage. Despite these signs, they remain in a usable condition, suitable for continued medical procedures.
