The RS‑1000Q Quill MONODERM 2‑0 double-armed barbed suture is a biodegradable, monofilament, absorbable suture designed for soft tissue approximation in surgical closures. Unlike traditional sutures that require multiple knots to secure tension, this suture incorporates a barbed, helical design along its length that allows it to anchor in tissue as it is advanced. Because the barbs resist backward movement, the suture maintains tension without the need for tying knots at every pass, which can reduce surgical time and bulk at the closure site.

With a double-armed configuration, the RS‑1000Q features two needles (one at each end), each connected to a 16 cm section of the suture (i.e. 16 × 16). Surgeons can approach closure from both ends of the wound or use opposing passes of the barbed suture to approximate tissue in a symmetric fashion. The use of RB‑1 needles of 18 mm length is well suited for many soft tissue closures that require moderate curvature and reach without being excessively bulky.
