The 4CN65H is a 6.5 mm I.D. (9.4 mm O.D.) cuffed, flexible tracheostomy tube designed for adult patients. It features a TaperGuard™ cuff—a tapered design that significantly reduces fluid leakage by approximately 99% while exerting about 18.6% less lateral pressure on the tracheal wall—offering protection during mechanical ventilation and helping preserve tracheal tissue integrity. The tube includes a beveled tip to ease percutaneous insertion and a thinner, less bulky cuff, reducing insertion force by nearly 39% compared to legacy models.

Constructed from PVC with a soft, flexible distal tip and clear, transparent flange material, the Shiley 4CN65H is designed for patient comfort and anatomical conformity, minimizing skin breakdown around the stoma. It includes a disposable inner cannula (inner cannula I.D. 5.5 mm) to help prevent biofilm buildup and airway obstruction, enabling easier cleaning and safer care.

Clinically, the flexible Shiley tube offers improved airflow dynamics: with the cuff deflated, airflow around the outer cannula increases by an average of 242% versus older models, reducing work of breathing and facilitating weaning or phonation. The integrated 15 mm connector allows for standard ventilator compatibility. With its combination of reduced insertion force, enhanced ventilation support, and cuff technology engineered to minimize leakage and tissue injury, the 4CN65H provides a well-rounded solution for adult tracheostomy management.
