The Ethicon VR496 is a high-quality, absorbable surgical suture made from Coated VICRYL® RAPIDE (Polyglactin 910), a synthetic braided copolymer composed of 90% glycolide and 10% L-lactide. This suture is designed for general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation, including use in superficial soft tissue approximation of the skin and mucosa, where only short-term wound support (7 to 10 days) is required.

Equipped with a 19 mm, 3/8 circle PS-2 reverse cutting needle, the VR496 suture offers excellent control and precision during tissue penetration. The reverse cutting needle design ensures a sharp cutting edge on the outer curvature, reducing the risk of tissue tearing and providing greater control during suturing. The 18-inch (45 cm) length provides ample working space for various surgical applications.

As an absorbable suture, the VR496 maintains its strength for approximately 42 days, providing continuous support to the tissue until the wound heals sufficiently. Its braided structure and coating enhance knot security and handling characteristics, while its undyed color ensures minimal tissue reaction and enhances visibility during procedures. The suture is sterile and comes in a box of 12, ensuring a sufficient supply for surgical procedures.
