ResMed 60541 Mirage Swift II Replacement Nasal Pillow Cushion Small

• Model: 60541
• Size: Small

The 60541 “Small” Nasal Pillow Cushion for the Mirage Swift II is the cushion‑seal component that comes into direct contact with the nostrils. It consists of two small soft silicone “pillows” or “prongs” that sit at the entrance to the nostrils, forming a seal with minimal facial contact. Because it's the “Small” size, it’s intended for users whose nostrils or facial anatomy need a more compact pillow, ensuring the pillows align properly without pushing into or overlapping skin, which could lead to leaks or discomfort. The silicone is soft and flexible, offering a balance between seal tightness and comfort.

Functionally, this cushion plays a central role in therapy effectiveness. A good seal is essential for CPAP (or APAP/BiPAP) machines to sustain the prescribed pressure without leaks. The Swift II design improves on its predecessor in several ways: it adds quieter venting, and the pillow sleeve/cushion design is lighter, more flexible, and more comfortable. Users will often notice that with a fresh pillow sleeve (especially of the right size), there are fewer leaks, less noise, and less need to overtighten headgear. Because the Small size cushion reduces bulk at the nose, it may also feel less obtrusive and be better suited for side sleepers or people who dislike mask parts pressing into their nose bridge. 60541

However, there are trade‑offs and maintenance needs. Because cushions are consumable components, over time their silicone becomes less resilient; small changes (flattening, creasing, glossiness, small tears) can degrade seal. Also, because the Swift II pillows are interchangeable on the same frame, it’s possible to mix up sizes or use a wrong size by mistake, which can lead to leaks or discomfort. The Small cushion, in particular, requires proper positioning: if it’s pushed too far or too shallow, or if headgear tension is off, the seal may fail. And since in many markets the mask/cushion line is discontinued, obtaining replacements may become harder over time — so keeping spares and ensuring good cleaning/handling is especially important.
