The OPT944 Optiflow+ is a medium-sized respiratory interface crafted by Fisher & Paykel Healthcare (often in partnership with ResMed devices) for delivering high-flow nasal oxygen (HFNC) therapy. It is compatible with both the Airvo™ and MR850™ heated humidifier systems, enabling administration of flows from approximately 10 L/min up to 60 L/min with adjustable FiO₂ up to 100%. Designed for adult use, it connects via a universal 3‑way connector that fits all Fisher & Paykel circuits, ensuring seamless integration with Optiflow setups.

Design & Comfort Features
This cannula features ergonomic, contoured nasal prongs with a concave base to minimize pressure on the septum and improve airflow distribution, enhancing patient comfort during prolonged therapy. The interface includes large soft cheek pads and a customizable headstrap with Stretchwise material to reduce facial pressure and improve fit. Tubing is anchored neatly with a headstrap clip and tubing clip to avoid interference with eating, drinking, and communication. Its Evaqua™ technology helps reduce condensate accumulation within the tube walls by allowing water vapor to diffuse out, helping maintain consistent humidification delivery.

Clinical Application & Usage Notes
The OPT944 is intended for single-patient use over a treatment period of up to 30 days, with regular daily and weekly cleaning routines recommended to maintain hygiene and device performance. It's particularly suited for acute care settings—such as ICU, ED, or step-down units—where high-flow nasal therapy is employed to support spontaneously breathing patients with moderate to severe respiratory compromise. The design prioritizes comfort and stability, reducing the risk of the cannula being dislodged and supporting effective, patient‑tolerated oxygen delivery during continuous use.
