The Safetec Ammonia Towelettes 62022 provide a fast, compact method to deliver a respiratory stimulant in situations where fainting or near-fainting (syncope) is a concern. Each towelette is saturated with a precise blend of ammonia and alcohol, in a 15 %–30 % formulation, which upon opening releases pungent vapors to stimulate breathing and provoke a reflexive inhalation response. This makes them a useful inclusion in first aid kits, athletic trainers’ supplies, or emergency response kits.

When deployed, the user should tear open the pouch and hold (or wave) it near—but not inside—the nostrils, allowing the vapors to reach the olfactory nerves and respiratory passages. The pad itself remains inside the pouch to avoid direct contact. This mode of use is designed to trigger a strong inhalation reflex without exposing skin or mucosa to excess liquid.

One practical advantage is the product’s longevity: because ammonia and alcohol in sealed pouches are inherently stable, Safetec states these towelettes do not require expiration dating.
