AirLife FH603009F Heat Moisture Exchanger HCHF/HMEF Large Swivel + Filter + Port + 6" x 15mm ID Flexible Tubing

• Model: FH603009F
• Vt Range: 250-1500mL

The Ventlab FH603009F is a combined heat‑moisture exchanger plus filter (HMEF) designed to be placed in a respiratory circuit to help preserve humidity and warmth in inspired gas while also filtering out bacteria and viruses. Its heat‑moisture exchanger component traps moisture from exhaled air and returns part of it during inhalation, which helps prevent the drying effects of dry, cool gases and reduces the need for active humidification in some settings. Meanwhile, the built‑in filter captures pathogens in the expiratory pathway, increasing safety for both the patient and care providers. The “swivel” design helps reduce mechanical tension on the circuit by allowing tubing to rotate rather than tug. The incorporated sampling port enables monitoring (such as gas sampling) without disconnecting or disturbing the closed circuit.

From a usability and patient comfort standpoint, the FH603009F balances the need for moisture/humidity with low respiratory resistance. The design includes standard size connectors (15 mm ID, 22 mm OD etc.), making it compatible with common ventilator or breathing circuits. Because drugs and therapies (and ventilator parameters) often assume a certain resistance, the low‑resistance swivel HMEF helps maintain those performance specs without burdening the patient. Its disposable nature makes managing infection control simpler, and replacing it every 24 hours (or sooner if needed) keeps the filtration and humidity performance consistent.

However, there are trade‑offs. Any HMEF introduces a bit of dead space, adds some weight, and slightly increases work of breathing compared with minimal circuits or warmed humidifiers. In flow‑critical or very high minute‑volume patients, one must monitor for elevated resistance or moisture saturation which could degrade performance. Also, once the filter element becomes wet, dirty, or blocked, both humidity and filtration effectiveness drop, so observing scheduled replacement intervals, inspecting for soiling, and ensuring the swivel/tubing connections remain secure are important. Overall, the Ventlab FH603009F is a strong option where moisture recovery plus pathogen filtration are both needed, especially in more versatile or mobile settings where simplicity, safety, and compactness matter.

This medical supply or implant item is securely packaged within its original manufacturer's packaging, which remains undamaged. The inner and outer packaging is intact, ensuring the product's integrity and suitability for medical use.
