The Synovis GEM 2753‑FC GEM Flow Coupler is a single-use microvascular device designed to facilitate end-to-end anastomosis for small vessels, with an outer diameter range of 2.2 to 2.8 mm—centered around a nominal size of 2.5 mm. This Flow Coupler combines two critical technologies—mechanical vessel coupling and ultrasonic blood flow monitoring—into one efficient system for microvascular and reconstructive procedures.
Utilizing durable polyethylene coupling rings and stainless‑steel pins, the device securely approximates vessel ends to form a robust and reliable connection. A detachable 20 MHz ultrasonic Doppler probe attaches to the coupler to provide real-time intraoperative and postoperative verification of blood flow. After placement, clinicians can continue to monitor perfusion at the anastomosis site for up to 7 days, then remove the probe while leaving the coupler implanted.
Ideal for use in free flap reconstruction, hand surgery, and other microsurgical disciplines, the GEM 2753‑FC enhances surgical efficiency and patient safety by combining precise vessel alignment with immediate and ongoing flow confirmation. This integration reduces the need for suture‑based techniques and supports improved outcomes in complex vascular procedures.
