• A small, non-sterile, threaded rod with a slotted head typically used for internal orthopedic fracture fixation by being screwed into bone to hold plates or nails to bone or to provide direct interfragmentary stabilization of bone, or it may fasten soft tissue to bone; it is made of a material that cannot be chemically degraded or absorbed via natural body processes (includes implant grade metal such as surgical steel, titanium alloy, or carbon fiber).
• Screws available are: cortical, cancellous, malleolar, scaphoid, partially-threaded and fully-threaded, self-tapping, and cannulated.
• A "lag screw" can be any of these used to obtain compression.
• This device must be sterilized before use.
This medical supply or implant item is in its original manufacturer's packaging.
The Synthes 207.045 is a 4.0 mm diameter cancellous bone screw, partially threaded with a length of 45 mm. It is designed for use in orthopedic fixation where non-cortical (cancellous) bone stability is needed.
Constructed from stainless steel, this screw typically features a hexagonal head to facilitate secure insertion, often with a driver from the Small Fragment LCP (Locking Compression Plate) system. The threading allows for measured compression on the near cortex while sparing the far cortex, providing stability while reducing stress on the bone.
